Il Regents' Canal e' un canale che collega il Paddington Basin (ad ovest) con il Limehouse Basin, nell'East End, Docklands. L'intero canale e' navigabile (da chiatte) e fa parte della rete di canali che permette di viaggiare da un lato all'altro dell'Inghilterra. La rete di canali e' amministrata dalla British Waterways.
Tutto il Regents' Canal puo' essere costeggiato. Infatti, larghi marciapiedi sono stati costruiti al lato del canale in tutte le sue zone, e praticamente in teoria sarebbe possibile camminare da Ovest ad Est in un giorno. In teoria, perche' e' una camminata piuttosto lunga.
Camminare lungo il Regents' Canal offre una nuova prospettiva di Londra che sicuramente troverete interessante. Il tratto che vi suggerisco e' da Camden Lock (la chiusa, a Camden Town) verso ovest, passando vicino allo zoo e a Primrose Hill. Ma provate anche a visitare altre aree, iniziando forse da Little Venice, vicino a Warwick Avenue. Secondo me, non vi sembrera' una 'piccola Venezia' per niente...
Un ultimo suggerimento: per quanto sicuro, evitate di andare a camminare da soli nelle ore di buio lungo il canale, soprattutto attorno alla zona di Camden. Durante il giorno non ci sono problemi.

Sto valutando di traferirmi a Londra e tra le varie cose mi chiedevo le condizioni atmosferiche consentono di tenere la motocicletta (ho una guzzi cui sono molto affezionato) e se ci sono itinerari per uscite nel week-end.

ti rispondo con un commento, perche' mi sembra utile per tutti. Il clima invernale di Londra e' un po' piu' piovoso, ma generalmente piu' mite di quello di una citta' del nord italia, dove piove meno e le temperature possono essere un po' piu' rigide. Quindi, basta una coperta per la moto, ma col freddo non ci sono problemi.
Tieni presente, pero', che molto raramente a Londra le case hanno cortili interni dove lasciare la moto. Quindi, e' probabile che tu debba lasciarla per strada, almeno per i primi tempi. Ogni tanto si riesce ad affitare un garage, ma chiaramente costa abbastanza.

Ciao! Volevo farti una domanda approposito di un tuo intervento intitolato "Dove abitare-Le zone di Londra" era del 26/04/07. Io e una mia amica il 4 novembre andremo a Londra per qualche mese e abbiamo trovato appartamento ad Alexander Road vicino a Holloway Road. Mi sembrava di aver capito da quello che avevi scritto che non è un bel posto.. Volevo saperne qualcosa di più perchè sono abbastanza preoccupata di finire in una zona squallida. Holloway Road va bene. Da quando ho scritto il post ho conosciuto un paio di persone che sono contente di vivere li'. L'importante e' l'essere attenti, come in tutte le altre parti di Londra. Valgono quindi i consigli di prudenza che si applicano a tutte le grandi citta'.
